POWER TESTS

Did not take it all the way up to smoke but it went to 15vdc happily.

It dropped out at about 4.3vdv. That's right at 1.0v over the circuitry regulation voltage of 3.3v.

It would not restart below 5.8vdc. I would guess you could run it off 6vdc without too much concern.

Current according to the analog meter on the PS rose from around 250ma to over 450ma at dropout. There is something running several times a minute that swings an extra 150ma or so.

Dropped out at 3.8vdc. Required 4.5 to restart.

Current was 250ma at 4vdv. 280ma at 6vdc. 20ma at 9vdc. 150ma at 12vdc. 50ma at 13vdc. 50ma at 14vdc.

Ran it for a while at 14vdc. No apparent ill effects but can't comment on lifespan impact or heat. Ran out of time.

Here's the whole chain. Last email from Matt says that the outdoor all-singing all-dancing router is built on an Atheros chip. Seems like it runs a little slow but it's only a b/g 54Mbps box so maybe that's understandable.

I looked at Fry's and didn't see one. I haven't been over to Microcenter in a couple of weeks so I don't know if they have them or not.
